April Favourites

It's that time again, April is nearly over so that means it's time for a favourites post! I don't have many favourites this month because I didn't have any money to spend! But I'm sure my May favourites may be rather large as my student loan just came in on Monday... I think I need to put myself on a spending ban, ahah.

What have you been loving this month? I'd also love to hear what you haven't been loving this month too!

Student Loan Day Haul, ft. Urban Decay Naked 3 Pallet

It's that time of year again, the last instalment of our student loan for my second year of University. After lusting over a few beauty products, student loan day came in quite handy. I picked up a few bits from Boots, Fenwicks, Debenhams and some clothes from Primark. But I won't be showing you the clothes, and all of the beauty products.

LUSH The Comforter Bubble Bar: REVIEW

If you read last weeks haul you would have seen this wonderful product from Lush. Whilst I was at home for Easter I took full advantage of having a bath. This may sound a bit weird to you, but in our student house we don't have a bath and I loooove taking a bath!

Skincare wishlist by daniella-keating featuring The Body Shop

My skin is crying out for a proper skincare routine. Right now I just wash my face, whack some spot cream on, some eye cream and then moisturise. Oh I also use face masks. But my skin is so terrible right now I think it's time I thought about changing my skincare routine up a bit. These are a few favourites that have caught my eye.

The Body Shop Calming Toner, The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, Lush Cosmetic Warrior Face Mask.

I would love to here your recommendations as I'm looking for new products to try. My skin is dry with breakouts by the way.

Have you found a skincare routine that works for you?

The 'Not Another Tag' Tag

I was tagged by the lovely Chloe a few days ago to do this tag. I love doing tag posts as it's a great way to learn more about the blogger behind the blog.

The Rules
- You must include Hayley and the person who tagged you in the post (and the rules)
- Once you’ve answered all the questions you need to tag 5 people.
- Also if you tweet Hayley (@teapartybeauty) the link to your post, she will RT.
- If you’re tagged and don’t do the post you will have bad luck for 68.5 years. FACT.

You’ve made it BIG & bagged some VIP Fashion Week tickets. You lucky devil you. But in your rush to get there & get yourself noticed you forgot your VIP Passes. The guy on the door says he will cut you a deal, you can go in only if you sacrifice either your Front Row seat, backstage privileges or goody bag. What’s it gonna be?

I'd have to sacrifice the backstage privileges. I'd love to be in the front row and I love free stuff!

You’re making a new subscription box what 4 items & which dreaded perfume sample would you include in it?

I would include L'Oreal True Match Foundation, MAC Soft & Gentle Highlighter, Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and Benefit's They're Real mascara. I'm not too sure for perfume as I don't really wear any.

What is your biggest blogging bug bear? The one thing guaranteed to make your blood boil & have you screaming/eye rolling at your laptop?
I really, really, really hate it when bloggers don't capitalise their 'I's, come on... If you're writing posts a few times a week your grammar and punctuation should naturally improve. It also looks very unprofessional!
No more joining in on Twitter chats only slightly relevant to your blog. You can only join in one blogger chat a week for the rest of your blogging days, which one’s it gonna be & why?
I've never really got involved in a chat apart from last week. So I'll have to say the #bbloggers chat.
‘Fess up, do you actually own any MAC? If so what don’t you like about the product?
Yes, I own six items but I'm craving some more! I haven't experienced a bad product but their packaging is terrible. Two of my blushers have broken. :(
The bloggings Gods ban arm swatching, which body part will you swatch on now?
My leg... They're pretty much like arms, right?
You can no longer have Yankee Candles & Perfume Bottles in the background of your shots, what other inanimate object will you choose?
I don't use any objects in my pictures so this question doesn't really apply.
Your blog’s Instagram, is it for cats or meal shots?
Meal shots and landscapes... (@daniellaydg)
I tag: everyone who hasn't done this already! Leave your posts down below, I'd love to have a read. :)

Affordable Drugstore Haul

Hello lovelies and happy Easter! I hope you're all having a good bank holiday and eating lots of chocolate, I certainly am... Oooops. For Easter my grandparents kindly gave me £40 and instead of saving it I spent it on clothes and make-up yesterday...

I first went to Superdrug where I picked up this gorgeous NYC pallet for only £2.99. After hearing Lily Pebbles rave about an NYC pallet I had to try one for myself. Then I went onto Boots and spent the £4 on my Boots card, as it's three for two at the moment I picked up a Natural Collection lipstick, a black eyeliner and a gorgeous peach blush. Finally I went to Wilkinsons to pick up some toiletries and I also picked up some make-up, surprise surprise... I picked up a Collection 2000 Creme Puff Lip Cream and a their 6-hour wear lip gloss, I'm not sure if it does last that long but it tastes amazing. Anyway... On my shopping trip I also picked up two skirts and a top and by no surprisef a bubble bar from Lush may have made its way into my bag... (I have a slight obsession) The bubble bar I picked up was the Comforter, I'll be doing a review of this next week so stay tuned for that!

Have you picked up any bits lately?

Summer fashion wishlist by daniella-keating featuring a faux leather skirt

I don't normally post fashion on my blog but as summer is fast approaching I thought why not?! Not all of this is exactly what I want but it's along similar lines. I love skirts, whatever the weather you will never see me in anything else, I practically never wear jeans! Summer is all about fun bright colours and pastels are bang on trend so you can't go wrong. There's a high waisted bikini in the mix because me and my boyfriend are hoping to go on holiday and I love high waisted bikinis. Especially when I'm a tad concious about my weight. I threw some jelly shoes into the mix because they're so so cool, they remind me of when I was a child and everybody wore them. My boyfriend hates them but oh well... I can't wait for student loan day when I can hopefully get my hands on some of these gorgeous clothes!

What's on your summer wishlist?

Lush Golden Egg Bath Bomb: Review & Demo

Hello lovelies. Whilst my boyfriend was in Amsterdam with his family he picked up some treats for me in the form of a Lush Golden Egg bath bomb and a YSL lippie. Yeah just a really expensive lipstick, nothing too great (omg can we just take a second...) so you can imagine how excited I was when I opened that! But we will leave that for another post.

Golden Egg
The Golden Egg Bath Bomb is part of the Easter range from Lush, it's a big glittery egg and it smells delicious. It's a bath melt on the outside and the actual bath bomb is in the middle. So it's two products rolled into one! With orange oil, cocoa butter, olive oil and bergamot oil this product is designed to leave your skin smelling fresh, soft and moisturised

.

As the Golden Egg is very very glittery it can get a bit messy so I wouldn't play around with it before you put it in the bath as you'll get glitter everywhere! If you hate glitter I advise that you stay away from this because it's a whole lot of glitter...

Golden Egg cut in half
I cut mine up in half because I didn't want to use it all at once. I popped it into the bath and glitter immersed the water straight away. The glitter melted off into the bath first and the bath bomb then went to fizz on and create bubbles. This isn't like other bath bombs as it stays around for quite some time, which I find great because it turns the bath into a gorgeous gold colour. The pictures don't show off the true colour, it's much more vibrant.

I was in the bath for well over half an hour and the colour didn't fade at all, the glitter was still so shiny even when I got out. I'm sitting here just smelling myself because it smells so good! The scent is so sweet with a mixture of toffee and honey. My skin feels so nourished and soft and I'm glittery! Now it isn't too much so don't be put off but I love the glitter.

I can't wait to use my other half another day!

What have you tried from Lush's Easter collection?

Boots Haul

Hello lovelies, yesterday I went town with my mum and I ventured into Boots and Wilkinsons. I did buy all the make-up myself and my mum bought me the skincare/body bits. I was going to buy MAC Pro Longwear Concealer but I only had £24 and I wanted to buy more than one item of make-up aha! This definitely fulfilled my make-up crave.

From left to right: Garnier Moisture Match for dry skin, Impulse True Love Body Spray, Rimmel Lip Liner, Rimmel Apocalips, Rita Ora for Rimmel Nail Varnish in White Hot Love, Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair and Seventeen Three Way Highlighter.

My mum also got me this gorgeous wrap skirt from Primark and it was only £9!

What bits have you picked up recently?

The Perfect Combination - Spring

As it is now Spring we've all had enough of the cold and we are ready for some hotter days! Today I'm bringing you some of my top make-up Spring picks!

Of course a daily make-up wouldn't be complete without L'Oreal True Match foundation, I use this all over my face for medium coverage that lets my skin shine through. I still have pretty bad dark circles and in Spring I want to look fresh so I opt for my MAC Studio Finish Concealer, it's high-coverage but it looks so natural under the eyes. For blush I want a healthy glow with a pink tint so I'm going to stick to MAC's Dainty, it's the perfect blush for that glow from within look. Spring is the time to start experimenting with brighter lips for the transition into summer, MAC's Speed Dial is perfect for a bright pink lip.

There are some of my top picks for Spring for the face and lips. Would you like to see my favourite eye combinations for spring?

What are in your top picks? Comment down below!

REVIEW & SWATCHES: L'Oreal True Match Foundation

Possibly the most talked about foundation amongst us beauty bloggers is L'Oreal's True Match foundation. There has been so much hype around this product and as a beauty blogger I couldn't not try it! I've had this for a few months now so I'm ready to give my full thoughts on it.

L'Oreal True Match

I must admit at first I didn't like it, I'm used to a super heavy matte coverage and this foundation isn't quite that. When my skin turned really dry I couldn't use my normal foundations because they stuck to my face and left it really patchy. Not a good look, I can assure you... So I then turned to this beauty and oh my goodness, lemme tell you now, the hype is needed as it is THAT good. I now consider this baby my holy grail foundation.

One pump

Rubbed once

Blended in

It blends really well and as you can see from the picture above my skin still looks like skin, it isn't orange and it has coverage. I'd say the coverage is medium but it can be built up or sheered out, depending on your preferences. I use two pumps and it gives me great coverage that isn't too heavy.

The shade range is amazing, it caters for light to dark skin and pink, yellow and neutral undertones! Amazing for a drugstore foundation right? I have the lightest shade I believe and that's Ivory Rose, it's the perfect match for my skin and I love it!

What are your thoughts?

The Sunday Edit #10

Week rundown on my blog:
Monday: 40 Beauty Questions Tag
Wednesday: March Favourites
Saturday: March Empties and Mini Reviews

Hey lovelies, I hope you're all well. It's not six days into April... These days are flying by so fast it's crazy! But I can't wait for Easter and all the yummy chocolate!

So I'm now back at home in Leicester for three weeks as we have spring break. I'm too poor to stay at my house in Sunderland so I had to come home aha. My mum and her lovely new boyfriend picked me and my boyfriend Michael up and took us back to mine, how nice is that?!

I'm so excited to have a lie in as waking up at 7 o'clock nearly every morning kills me. I need to get rid of these bags! Although we have three weeks off from Uni I'll be doing Uni work everyday I bet. I have three essays, three exams to revise for, four assessments to prepare for, shorthand practice, a 20-page magazine to complete and five blogposts for my other blog. Wish me luck... I'll need it.

On April 1 I got an article published on Fashion North. I really enjoyed writing it and I know have a nail varnish wishlist as long as my arm... Please have a read, I'd love to know what you think of my writing style. You can read it here.

I'm now gonna relax for a bit and then get on with some work.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday!

March Empties and Mini Reviews!

Hello lovelies, I hope you're all doing well. Today I'm sharing with you a few empty products from the beginning of the year, I've just called this March empties because I'm going to try and do this every month.

Batiste Dry Shampoo: This is the best dry shampoo I've tried. It doesn't dry the hair, it soaks up the oil and it leaves your hair feeling fresh. Out of the two above Graffiti is my favourite as it smells amazing.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

VO5 Ultimate Hold: It's definitely ultimate hold this stuff! I think it's a bit too heavy for my hair though.
Would I repurchase? Well you can see in the background that I already have but the high volume one and it's not as hard on my hair. Success!

VO5 Heat Protection Spray: I'm not really fussy when it comes to heat protection sprays, I just make sure that they're a well-known brand so I know that it's going to protect my hair. This seems to do the job and I do like it.
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Garnier Mineral Deodorant: I always look what deo is on offer in Wilko and it's always this one. Being the cheapo I am I always get it and it is really nice. It smells nice, isn't too powdery and it makes me smell fresh.
Would I repurchase? Look in the background, I already have aha!

L'Oreal La Touche Magique Concealer: I love this concealer, it brightens, conceals and it comes in many shades. The only problem I had is that went so quickly so I don't think there's much product in the tube!
Would I repurchase? Yes.

Rimmel Glam Eyes Eyeliner: This eye liner is my holy grail, I love everything about it.
Would I repurchase? Of course!

L'Oreal Micellar Water: I've done a full review on this product and I don't love it. It does the job but it stings my eyes way too much!
Would I repurchase it again? No.

Simple Anti-Blemish Moisturiser: I enjoyed using this product but I didn't see a massive different in my blemishes and it isn't hydrating enough for my skin.
Would I repurchase it? No.

What did you enjoy this month? Are there any products you're going to repurchase?

March Favourites

Hello lovelies, it's 2 April, 2014 and that means one thing... It's monthly favourites time! I haven't bought any new products in a while because I can't afford it, damn being a student! But here are some rediscoveries and products I've given a second chance that I would now consider as my favourites of the month of March.

March Favourites

L'Oreal True Match Foundation: I'll be honest, the first time I tried this foundation I didn't see the hype... I'm a full coverage kinda girl and I instantly went back to my MAC Studio Fix Foundation. But after my skin taking a turn for the worse and becoming very dry this foundation has now become my holy grail. It's medium coverage and it doesn't cling to my dry patches, hooray! Better yet, it comes in a range of shades with pink, neutral and yellow undertones. Something that is very rare in the drugstore!

L'Oreal True Match

L'Oreal Collection Privee, Julienne's nude: I won't go into too much detail about this product as I've done a full review on it here. But this has been my go to lipstick this month, I'm obsessed with nudes as I hate worrying about my lipstick throughout the day. L'Oreal have hit the money with this product.

L'Oreal Collection Privee

Miss Sporty Metal Flip Nail Varnish: I'm not too sure on the name of this nail varnish but it is beautiful. It's an iridescent shade so it appears blue but in the light it's green. I find myself staring and moving my nails around when I'm wearing this varnish aha, it brings out the inner child. Best yet it's only £1.99!

Miss Sporty Metal Flip Nail Varnish

Real Techniques Contour Brush: I love this brush for contour and highlight. It's the perfect size to sculpt my cheekbones and I find it makes contouring that bit easier. I love Real Techniques brushes as they're amazing quality, wash well and they're so soft!

Real Techniques Contour Brush

Le Volume De Chanel: This is actually a sample that I got ages ago in 2013, it's been more than three months and it hasn't dried up. This mascara makes my eyelashes voluminous, separated and it adds length. It's such a good mascara but at the £25 price tag I'm not sure I would buy it full size.

Chanel Mascara
That's it for my monthly favourites, keep your eyes peeled for a monthly empties coming soon!

What was in your March favourites?
