Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick - Amazing Grace | Review

With Charlotte Tilbury arriving in the North at Newcastle Fenwicks I just had to have a browse around the counter – who can ever just have a browse right?! So I picked up her Matte Revolution lipstick in the shade Amazing Grace.

I’m a huge fan of matte lipstick, it stays on well and it doesn’t smear all around my face… What can I say? I’m awfully messy.

Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks come housed in a gorgeous rose gold cylinder tube with the tip of the lipstick being a square-ish shape to apply from the bullet with ease. Amazing Grace is a gorgeous everyday pink.

For £23 I had high expectations, I never really splurge this much on a single lipstick. My high expectations were met and I’m so in love with the formula! Matte lips are renowned for being drying but these lipsticks do not leave my lips feeling dry and flaky which is amazing. They also last for a good five hours without any touch-ups too!

If you’re in the market for a new matte lipstick and don’t mind CT’s hefty price tag then I definitely recommend these gorgeous lipsticks! Maybe pop one on your Christmas list…

Apologies for the lack of swatches - winter is definitely not a bloggers best friend!

Kiko Milano Haul

152 Pearly Violet
211 Metallic Copper
267 Pearly Malachite Green
613 Pink Carnation
614 Dark Berry
Kiko is a brand I've always wanted to try but I prefer to swatch products in store as opposed to buying online. I was super excited when they opened a store in Newcastle Eldon Square and last week I took a cheeky trip to Kiko and Charlotte Tilbury, but more on that later...

I'm a creature of habit and lipsticks are my obsession, so I picked up two lipsticks and three eye shadows. Matte lipsticks are my favourite and I couldn't pass up the amazing packaging of the Velvet Mat lipsticks for only £6.90! I picked up the shade 613 Pink Carnation which is my favourite shade of lipstick - a medium pink. I also picked up 614 Dark Berry, it's a gorgeous deeper pink that isn't too dark and scary - for me anyway!

I've been really enjoying eye shadows lately so I picked up two of their infinity shadows and one of their regular line shadows. From the regular line I picked up 152 Pearly Violet which is a gorgeous purple!

From the Infinity line I picked up 267 Pearly Malachite Green which is a sparkly green with a blue undertone.

Last up is the Infinity shadow in 211 Metallic Copper and it just that, a gorgeous copper with shimmer running through it.

Jerome Russell Bblonde Maximum Blonding Kit & Silver Toner | Review

Silver hair is all the rage these days and it's something that I have wanted for a few months, however the hairdresser said I would have to lose length in order to bleach it. When Jerome Russell reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try their blonding products I jumped at the chance! I must admit I was quite scared that my hair would fall out, but I gave it ago anyway...

Just before we jump into the review I'm going to include a disclaimer:
  • I'm not a professional
  • What works for me might not work for you
  • This is just my experience
  • Always do a patch test and follow the instructions
  • Your hair could fall out or become damaged

I'm a natural blonde but I've dyed my hair blonder a few times myself and at the hairdressers. The last time I went to the hairdressers they dyed my hair brown at the top fading into blonde - baylayage. I've been waiting for the brown to completely fade from my hair but two months later it wasn't completely gone. So I took the plunge and used the Jerome Russell Blonding Kit*.

The kit comes with instructions, a pair of gloves, powder bleach, 30vol peroxide, a mixing tub and a brush to apply the bleach. I chose kit number two which is for blonde or light brown hair.

In terms of mixing the product up it's really simple. You mix the powder bleach and peroxide in the mixing tub until it's a smooth paste. This product is really thick so it needs a good stir.

Jerome Russell recommend roping someone in and helping your with applying the bleach to your hair, I had the help of my lovely boyfriend Michael - who did an amazing job.

He applied the bleach to my ends and then to my roots and we left it on for an hour-ish. The maximum recommended time is 90mins. We used two kits as Jerome Russell recommend two if you have thick or longer than shoulder length hair.

Included in the kit is a clarifying conditioning shampoo that is used to help wash the bleach out from your hair. When I had washed all the bleach out I dried my hair to see the result.

Now, here comes the part where I was freaking out... My hair went orange where the brown had been and platinum blonde at the ends. As I'm super conscious about my hair I insisted Michael head to Bodycare and pick up another kit for me. I know bleaching your hair twice in one go isn't ideal but I needed to get the orange out of my hair.

He applied the bleach just to the orange bits of my hair and we waited another hour. Now the time had come to rinse it out again and use the shampoo. As I was drying my hair I was praying that the orange had come out - it did!

My hair was now a pale yellow shade with a mix of platinum tones coming through. I needed to tone my hair and this is where their Silver Toner* came in handy... The toner is purple in colour and doesn't contain any peroxide - in fact the toner is quite nourishing. We applied the toner to my hair and put one of the spare caps on and blasted my hair with the hair dryer for five minutes as recommended. I left it on for a further 25 minutes and washed it out.

When my hair was dry I was now left with super light ashy blonde hair with a hint of silver. I'm still trying to get my hair fully silver and I might try the toner again. It is perfect for banishing yellow toners though!

I bet you're wondering if my hair is completely fried, frizzy and damaged? I'm very pleased to say that it isn't! It does feel dry but my hair was dry before. Being a natural blonde and having mostly blonde hair before I dyed it definitely helped and if you are blonde I think it would work better for you.

I don't regret bleaching my hair myself and I'm really happy with how the finished product turned out!

Here is a really bad photo of my current hair! Sorry there are no before and after photos per se, this was kind of spare of the moment and when my hair was orange I panicked! If you compare the photo in my sidebar to the photo below then you can see the difference.

If you have any recommendations for silver toners or hair care then definitely leave your recommendations in the comments.

Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit | Review & Swatches

Contour palettes can be hard to come by at the drugstore so I was thrilled when I came across Barry M’s Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit.

Housed in a cute cardboard are three powders, a light beige for highlighting, a warm brown for bronzing and a cool deeper brown for contouring.

I’m ghostly pale and I only contour my skin and I don’t bronze because I hate the way it looks on my skin – I do love a strong contour though!

The light beige shade can be used to highlight but because I’m so fair it does leave me looking a tad yellow and patchy, saying that it makes a great base shade for eyeshadow.

As I’ve said before, I don’t bronze my skin but the bronze shade is a lovely sun-kissed matte brown that does make an excellent crease shade!

My favourite powder is the deeper cooler contour shade. I love that this shade isn’t too pigmented and it needs a bit of building up – which is great for a contour shade because you don’t want a brown stripe along your face.

I find these powders finely milled and they blend out really easily. For only £6.49 I definitely recommend giving this kit a go as the quality for such an affordable price is incredible.

Beauty Wish List | November

Another month, another wish list! November is my favourite month as my birthday is at the end of November! Shame that I'm going to be 22 though, I'll be 40 before I know it. Anyway, back to the wish list...

I'd love a beauty calendar but they're all to expensive! M&S have launched theirs and it's £25 when you spend £25 on Cosmetics which is an amazing deal as its value is a whopping £200!

Colourpop is something I've always lusted over and never purchased because you have to use a shipping service. I really want to try their shadows and Ultra Matte Liquid Lippies! Hopefully they will start shipping to the UK soon.

Another eye shadow palette, I am so obsessed with eye shadow at the moment! Morphe are always being raved about amongst bloggers and YouTubers and their Multi Colour Matte Palette looks amazing. With a great mixture of bright and neutrals you can create so many looks out of it.

I can't wait for Freedom to come to a Superdrug near me - I could by everything! Two things I'm eyeing up is their Pro Strobe Palette that is a dupe of the LORAC Contour Kit. Their Pro HD Brow Palette looks incredible too! The best part? They're £10 each!

What's on your wish list this month?

Clinique Plum Pop Lipstick | Review & Swatches

I've never tried anything from Clinique so when I made a cheeky purchase on Feel Unique I decided to give their Pop Lip Colour and Primer Lipsticks a go.

What Clinique say:

"Luxurious yet weightless formula merges bold, saturated colour with a smoothing primer. Glides on effortlessly to give a modern-velvet finish. Colour stays true and keeps lips comfortably moisturised for 8 hours. "

I picked up Plum Pop, a muted plum that is perfect for autumn. It's not an in-your-face-look-at-me shade so it's perfect for everyday.

The formula is smooth and it applies evenly on the lips without dragging thanks to its creamy finish. I do find it to feather if I don't use a lip liner but I always use lip liner anyway so this isn't a problem for me.

Clinique do say it lasts for eight hours, but when do lip products ever live up to the wear-time claim?!

It lasts a good few hours though, but it will start to come off with eating - as most lip products to for me.

I really do like the formula as I love how it doesn't dry out your lips but it still is super pigmented.

Beige Pop is next on my wish list!

Have you tried the Clinique Pop Lipsticks? What's your favourite?
