September Favourites

I haven't done a monthly beauty favourites in what seems like forever! So today I'm kicking it old school and sharing with you my beauty favourites for the month of September.

I'm sorry I haven't taken the images myself. Michael and I are currently housed in a Travelodge because our building had a leak and we were left without electric and water - total nightmare!

My first favourite is an eyeshadow brush from Sigma, their Medium Sweeper E54* is the perfect size for packing colour onto the lid. It isn't too dense so you can slightly blend out shadow with it too.

The Maybelline Colour Sensational Creamy Mattes are my favourite lipstick from the drugstore. I'm a matte lip addict and I get a total fix with these creamy, long-lasting lipsticks. Nude Embrace is my favourite shade at the moment, paired under a nude pink lip liner, it's perfect for my pale skin tone.

When Debenhams had 40 per cent off of the Make Up For Ever HD foundation I just had to try it! The lightest shade on the website was 110 so I took a gamble and it certainly paid off. This shade is super light and actually matches my skin tone. This foundation makes my skin look flawless whilst looking super natural and it feels weightless. It has now been replaced my the Ultra HD Foundation but I'm sure that's as great too!

I've always looked at the Barry M Contour Kit in Boots but never actually picked it up because I thought it would be too dark for me. I love it! The shades aren't too dark and the contour shade is perfect for emulating cheekbones with a light hand.

The best highlighter on the market? I've raved on and on about The Balm's Mary Lou Manizer so you'll have to take mine - and every bloggers - word for it and try it out for yourself.

What have you been enjoying this month?

Good Things Argan Oil Perfecting Facial Oil | Review

I'm sure you have gathered by now that I am obsessed with Good Things Skincare. Their affordable, amazing products have become my favourites and I want to try the whole range.

We all know how Argan Oil is great for our hair so I was very intrigued by an Argan Oil Facial Oil. Infused with peach oil, vitamin E, almond oil, olive oil and rich in fatty acids this oil is great for the skin.

It really softens the skin which is perfect for my spot-prone skin as I can suffer with texture issues. I apply this every night and I wake up with baby soft skin. It also smells delicious!

If you have sensitive eyes definitely try and keep it away from the eye area because it stings my eyes - I always manage to get it near my eyes though - so clumsy!

All of the Good Things Skincare range is free from: parabens, mineral oils, sulphates and animal ingredients.

If you're looking for amazing affordable skincare then look no further than Good Things Skincare!

Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner | Review & GIVEAWAY

We all use shampoo and conditioner and I'm usually the one to pick up something because it's on offer and if it smells nice. Anyone else? Now my hair is dyed I want to preserve the colour and I've been looking into sulphate-free shampoos because sulphates are really bad at stripping the colour out of your hair.

Maple Holstics* specialise in developing and manufacturing their own cruelty-free products. They have a whole range of products including shampoo and conditioner. I will be reviewing their Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner.

Sulphates help shampoos lather up and I had no problems with the sulphate-free Argan Oil Shampoo lathering up. It cleaned my hair the same way as a normal shampoo would.

The Argan Oil Conditioner leaves my hair feeling super soft and hydrated. I love Argan Oil in products because Argan Oil is so nourishing.

I've noticed using these products that my colour isn't fading as fast as it normally is with shampoos that contain sulphates.

I'm really impressed with both the shampoo and conditioner that Maple Holistics are being kind enough to give away the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner to one of my lucky readers! You must be living in the UK, USA or Canada though!

TopVue Premium Contact Lenses | Review

Today's post is a different one because I've handed over Freshly Pressed Beauty to a guest poster, my lovely boyfriend Michael! I was recently contacted by Lenses Contact asking if I would like to review the products that they offer. As I don't wear glasses/contacts myself I thought it would be a great idea to still review the products so I handed the reigns over to Michael!
Lenses Contact have various different contact lenses for special occasions like Halloween or lenses for more day-to-day wear. They have a vast amount of accessories and contact lenses supplied by authorised distributors.
Before I hand you over to Michael I want to tell you about the LAIM Moisture Eye Spray. I used this when my eyes were irritated because that happens to me a lot. You spray it over your closed eye and it soothes and relives the irritation.

Now, over to Michael...

Over the past month I have been using bi-weekly contact lenses kindly send to me by www.lenses-contact.co.uk.

I was wearing daily contact lenses from Specsavers for about a year and a half before my student budget wouldn’t stretch that far and I opted for a cheap pair of glasses. I’ve still got some pairs left for when I play sport and for other times when glasses are not the most practical option.

I was a bit apprehensive switching to bi-weekly because I liked the no fuss option of daily lenses, but I was willing to try something different and see if it would work better.

Those of you who wear contact lenses or who have tried, know that the first few times putting them in are a nightmare but always make sure you have very clean hands otherwise your eyes can get really irritated.

The contact lenses I used are the TopVue Premium (6 lenses), the first thing I noticed was that on these lenses they have no markings on the lens itself. The dailies I used before have a “123” engraved on them so it’s easy to see if they are inside out or not, which can come in handy.

That said, I had no problems putting them in and I never put them in inside out, so I must have been doing something right. After putting them in I noticed that I couldn’t feel the lens in my eye. Normally I can feel the edge of the lens with my eyelid, but with these I had no problems with my eye getting used to having something in it. So hopefully this means putting them in after doing your make-up shouldn’t make your eyes water.

Straight away it felt like I wasn’t wearing any lenses and it felt a bit weird having such clear vision without the feeling of lenses. In terms of my actual vision it was just the same as previous contact lenses and glasses.

Throughout the day I never noticed that I was wearing lenses even right through to the evening. When I was working my eyes didn’t feel over strained, even when watching movies. When I wore them playing football I never felt like they were going to fall out or cause me any problems.

One of the few drawbacks occurred when it was time to take them out. Normally it takes me a few seconds to get my contacts out. But with these lenses, probably due to the thinness of the edge, they were pretty tricky to get out. Nevertheless after a few attempts and clean fingers they came out and went straight into the solution.

The lens holder was great, having it next to my bed made me remember to take them out and store them safely. I would say watch how much solution you are using because the holders are quite big and filling them up would use a lot of solution.

Another little device that I’ve not used before was Barrel Lens Case. This little device is great, whenever I felt like the lenses were a little dirty and didn’t want to damage them by washing, I would just pop them in and give it a spin. You can see the dirt fall into the solution and your lenses come out clean as new.

I’m very conscious about making sure whatever goes in my eye is very clean so having the washer/spinner was great and I had no problems with the solution either.

I think these products are designed for those who already wear contact lenses so if you’re thinking about switching to contacts, I would visit an optician first before going on a whim. The instructions are also in Czech so make sure you know what you are doing before you get started.

The Contact Lens Applicator wasn't for me as I found it too fiddly. Using my fingers was so much easier.

Overall these have definitely converted me from daily to bi-weekly lenses. The feeling of having nothing touching your eyelid is great and combined with the saving from daily to bi-weekly it’s a no brainer. Not being tied to a contract is also a great idea as I can just buy lenses as and when I need them, instead of having them pile up whilst still paying for them.

Partylite Candles | Review

I'm so obsessed with candles at the moment! I'm loving burning candles and wax melts and really filling my home with warm sweet smells, mmm!

Today I will be sharing with you some candles from Partylite who have a range of candles to suit all budgets and a range of different scents.

First up is the Forbidden Fantasy Candle in Desire*. The outer packaging of this candle is beautiful, very sleek and elegant. Inside the candle is housed in a round black glass jar, with the candle itself being black inside. It's very minimalist. With a blend of magnolia and jasmine, with hints of deep berries it's a nice floral scent that verges on fruity. It's very pungent and fills my whole apartment with the gorgeous scent.

How cute is the Just Desserts* packaging for the tea lights though? I think this would make a great gift for someone. It has 15 tea lights inside, three of each scent: Marshmallow Peppermint, Lemon Lime Macaroon, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Sugarplum Fairies, Nutcracker Sweet. Each scent is really strong and fills the room. They all smell amazing and you can mix up the scents if you want.

For the the tea lights there are various tea light holders and I got scent this gorgeous heart one. It's a glass heart with silver detailing.

I'm really impressed with Partylite candles overall and I could definitely see myself buying some in the future - I have a lot of candles at the moment, eheh.

What's your favourite candle scent?

Maybelline Creamy Mattes Lipstick - Rose Rush | Review & Swatches

I have been waiting for what seems like a lifetime for the Maybelline Creamy Mattes to come to the UK after seeing so many US YouTubers rave on about them.

Mattes are my favourite finish in lipstick because I love the way they look and their staying power. Some mattes can be drying but I’ll put up with it as long as I have prepped my lips accordingly.

I picked up three out of the six lipsticks and today I will be sharing with you Rose Rush, a gorgeous mid-tone blue-based pink.

These are hands down the best lipsticks at the drugstore. They’re creamy without being slippery and matte without the dryness. Rose Rush is a perfect everyday shade for me.

I wish they had bought over all the shades because I would probably by them all!

If you’re after a new affordable lipstick then definitely check the Creamy Mattes out. They retail for £6.99 which is a massive bargain!

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Creamy Mattes?
