The Sunday Edit #22 - Bowling Fun & The Struggles Of Finding A Job

This week has been a very relaxing one, which after all the stress from finishing uni it's definitely needed! Tuesday me and Michael went on a triple date with our friends, it felt very grown up! We went to bowling and played three games. I didn't win any, of course... I was pretty terrible actually! Bowling was lots of fun though as I do love a good bowl. We then went to Marcello's in Sunderland and had some pizza and pudding - the perfect combination of course.

Michael went home to work with his dad for the summer so I've been flying the nest alone (we live together if you don't know). My life this week has consisted of: watching the Hills, playing GTA (I am addicted, daniellaydg on PSN if you want to add me) and looking for a job. I'm looking for a job in retail or similar for now because Michael still has a year to finish at uni so I'm staying in Sunderland with him. We're going to save up to move to London, where hopefully we can both get a job in magazines.

In other news, my baby sister is now over three months old. She is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

This week I've been listening to: Hobbie Stuart, he really has an amazing voice!
This week I've been loving:  The original UD Naked Palette.
This week I've been watching: The Hills. Lauren Conrad is a babe.
This week I've been lusting after: The new UD blushes.

The Fat Hippo - Newcastle Underground | Review

Credit: Sam Terry
As Freshly Pressed Beauty is labelled as a beauty & lifestyle blog I really want to introduce some more lifestyle content onto my blog now I have the time. I love food, and I'm sure you do to, right? So today I will be reviewing Newcastle's The Fat Hippo. I went to the Underground branch for the second time with Michael and I'm just obsessed!

The Fat Hippo serve American food: beef burgers, chicken burgers, ribs, potato skins. They have a happy hour on 5-6 Monday-Friday which entitles you to one course for £7.50 two courses for £10 and three courses for £12 (on selected meals) which is amazing given the quality of the food.

Berry Smash Cocktail
Dirty Skins
I opted for two courses. To start I went with the Dirty Skins which is: "Double fried potato skins, topped with bacon and Fat Hippo sauce." The Dirty Skins were divine, the bacon really complimented the potato skins and the Fat Hippo Sauce added a lot of flavour to the skins and bacon. Yum!

Texas Burger
For the main I went for a Texas burger which is: "Double patty, topped with streaky bacon, cheese, onion rings and bbq sauce". Although I love bbq sauce I'm not a fan of it on beef so I asked for mayo instead which was no problem. The burger comes beautifully present with home-cooked season fries houses in a little red pot - which is a cute touch. The burger has an amazing smoky taste and the brioche bun adds to the taste. It's definitely the best burger I have ever had!

Michael didn't finish his burger so he asked for it to be wrapped up, one of the waitresses accidentally chucked his half burger away so the waitress asked the chef to make Michael a fresh one. So we got to take a whole chicken burger and chips away with us which was amazing. The customer service is brilliant!

The only fault I have with the Underground branch is that it does get really hot down there on a hot summers day. If you're next to the air con then you will be fine. The food on the other hand, no complaints as it was delicious.

If you're ever in Newcastle City Centre and fancy a bite to eat then definitely stop by The Fat Hippo.

The Balm Mary Lou Manizer | Review

Possibly one of the well-loved beauty products amongst the blogosphere is The Balm's Mary Lou Manizer £17.50. I'm pretty late to the party but I'm glad I stopped by.

Mary Lou swatch
Swatch blended in
Mary Lou is a champagne toned with a hint of gold highlight. It appears more gold on my skin tone as I am so fair. I think it would look beautiful on any skin tone though.

The product is encased in cute packaging - which is standard for The Balm - with a mirror, it makes the perfect on-the-go compact.

It has a slight shimmer and there is no chunky glitter in sight. It's the most intense, beautiful highlight I own and it looks great on the tops of the cheekbones. I do advise using a light hand as it can be easy to go overboard. But, I am definitely all about that glow.
Have you tried Mary Lou?

HD Brows Lip Gloss - Candy | Review

I'm not a huge fan of lip gloss as I like a matte finish lipstick. But the HD Brows Gloss in the shade Candy* has completely converted me. The non-sticky formula has a lovely colour payoff and looks great over lipstick or by itself.

It makes the lips look plump and juicy without smearing all around my face (it's very windy in Sunderland). The consistency is lovely as it glides on the lips evenly and doesn't look patchy. It fades off nicely too so you aren't left looking silly.
The packaging is incredible, it's so sleek and stylish. The applicator is a doe foot so it makes it easy to define the cupids bow.
If you're not a big fan of glosses either then definitely try the HD lip gloss range. I really want to try the eyebrow palette now!

The Sunday Edit #21 - I've Finished University?!

Some of the Mag Journos with their magazines
Yes, I have finished university. It feels so surreal saying that. These past three years have gone by so fast and I've met so many amazing people and had the best memories. If you're thinking about going to university I definitely recommend it, it's been the best, most stressful but rewarding, most amazing thing that I have done. My last hand in was Thursday and that is when we got to see our magazines, in the flesh printed. It's so exciting to see something that you have worked so hard for come to life. I've uploaded my magazine to my blog, if you would like to see it click here. I'm definitely not going to miss writing 2000 word essays on the deadline, I might add...

On Thursday me and my fellow magazine journo besties went to Liberty Brown to have some food and drinks to celebrate the completion of university. I've never been to Liberty Brown before but both the food and drinks were amazing, and such a good price too!

Bubblegum Daiquiri, yummmy
On Friday me and my boyfriend Michael celebrated finishing uni at The Fat Hippo Newcastle with a lovely meal. I will be writing a review on The Fat Hippo and it will be up sometime next week so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Saturday me and Michael went to South Shields beach for a nice relaxing day by the sea. We sat on the sand - getting battered by it as it was so windy, ouch - and relaxed in the sunshine. There was actually a food festival going on so we indulged in chocolate & Oreo crepes, tandoori chicken wraps and Fat Hippo. I was so happy that Fat Hippo had a stand there so I had to get myself a burger... Yep, second one in two days.

I've had a very stressful week topped off with a relaxing weekend. How has your weekend been?
