2014 Favourites - Base Products

A bit late but here are my 2014 favourites! I’m going to have to split these into multiple posts as I had only started getting into make-up properly last year. So I have discovered a lot!

Primers

L’Oreal Lumi Magique
I love this primer because it gives me a luminous base without any glitter or shimmer, so I don’t look like a disco ball. When used underneath foundation it gives a beautiful lit from within glow. I also mix this product in with my matte foundations and sometimes use it as a liquid highlight. A multi-use product that is affordable is a plus for me.

Benefit Porefessional
Benefit isn’t a brand that I have dabbled into, but the Porefessional Primer is the best pore-filling primer on the market. I have tried other pore-minimising primers and although they are good, nothing can beat the Porefessional.

Foundation

Estee Lauder Double Wear
The best discovery for me this year has to be Estee Lauder Double Wear. The coverage is medium to full, and it has a lovely demi-matte finish. It will stay on all day no matter what and for me it looks even better as the day goes on. It is a bit like glue in foundation form, but not in a bad way, in the way that it stays put all day no matter what.

L’Oreal True Match (not pictured as I had ran out)
I used to be obsessed with this foundation, I still am. The coverage is medium but definitely buildable. L’Oreal True Match is a gorgeous natural finish foundation, it looks like skin and it blends into the skin beautifully. The colour match is great for me too as the palest shade is really pale. I love how the range has neutral, warm and cool undertones. Definitely one of the best shade ranges for a drugstore foundation.

Revlon Colourstay
I once branded this as my Holy Grail foundation, it isn’t anymore as Double Wear has my heart, but saying that, it is very similar. It’s Medium to full coverage, wears all day beautifully and gives a matte finish to the skin. Only thing I dislike is the fact that it doesn’t have a pump (same with Double Wear)!

Rimmel 25 Hour Lasting Finish Nude Foundation
I do love Rimmel foundations as their “light porcelain” shade is a good match. The 25 Hour Nude foundation is a lightweight version of its sister: Rimmel Lasting 25 Hour Foundation. The nude version is very lightweight, I can never feel it on my skin. It has a good medium coverage as well and a natural finish.

Nars Sheer Glow
This is joint with Estee Lauder double wear as my favourite foundation. Nars Sheer Glow is like good skin in a bottle. It makes my skin look flawless with a slight dewy finish. The only complaint I have is that the shade Mont Blanc is a fraction too dark for me and Siberia (the lightest shade) is too dark and yellow for me. Please add paler shades NARS. L

Concealers

Collection Lasting Perfection
There are only a few people that dislike this concealer and I have no idea why! It is so cheap, full coverage, stays all day and doesn’t look cakey. I have about three in my collection as I just love it that much!

MAC Prolongwear
This concealer is quite similar to Collection’s but it’s over £10 more expensive. I do love it though. It has a tacky kind of consistency that makes it great for concealer blemishes. Set it with a powder and you’re good to go!

  4. I'm planning on NARS Sheer Glow being my next foundation. The price has been dropped by a third here in NZ which makes it in my budget - yay!
