How do we say I love you? | Mother's Day

Mother's day is fast approaching and there are so many different ways for you to appreciate that special lady in your life. Maybe some chocolate, flowers and a Lush bath bomb? There are so many different ways that you can show your love. flyingflowers.co.uk have conducted a survey to find out how everyone around the globe say I love you...

The Weekly Top Five #10

Well, what a week it has been! I started a new job on Monday as a copywriter for a well-known retailer and on Wednesday I fell over and ended up in A&E. Great first week to kick off my career right? So I have a badly sprained ankle and a uber fashionable limp - ouch. I'm in the swing of things with blogging (finally) and this will be my third post this week which hasn't happened in years.
To round of the week, I'm bringing you a weekly top five.

Pokemon Go
Gen 2 has finally been released and the spark of Pokemon Go has been reignited (I didn't really stop playing so much) and I've been up and about searching for new Pokemon and it's so much fun! Although I haven't been able to play with my sprained ankle...

Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit, Pose
I haven't tried Kylie Lip Kit's but I'm all for the affordable £6.99 version from Barry M. They are pretty amazing too! I definitely need to pick up more shades.

Pink Zingo Fruit Infusing Water Bottle*
I'm a huge water drinker and I love squeezing lemon into my water. Handy that this bottle from Root 7 has an inbuilt infuser. I love the colour of the bottle too, so gorgeous!

Pink Stripe Bardot Long Sleeve Shirt
You'll rarely catch me in anything else than a bardot top. New Look are slaying at the moment and I picked up this gorgeous pink shirt after buying the blue version. I'm obsessed!

Pinku Marble Phone Case*
Phone cases are an addiction for me and I love accessorising and protecting my phone. I'm being a stereotypical blogger with this marble case from Pinku. It also has my initials on, too cute!

Organised Mess - How Your Horoscope Organises You

I'm one of those people that love flicking through Horoscopes and finding what traits I have, what the future will hold for me - somehow they just always find a way to make it sound so real. The guys at Furniture at Work have compiled an infographic to see how your horoscope organises you. I'm a Sagittarius and I must admit I probably need to throw a few things out...

The Weekly Top Five #9

It has been a hot minute since I've written a weekly roundup. I'm aiming to post at least once a week this year (I was so slack last year) so here's my second post of the week!

Little Mix - Glory Days
When I was younger I was a huge girl band fan (Spice Girls and Girls Aloud) I used to have a Spice Girls tee and I loved it! I've never been a big fan of Little Mix but after giving their latest album Glory Days a listen - I'm obsessed!

Pretty Little Liars
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with PLL! I can't wait for the season 7 finale, I'm rewatching it from the beginning (love you Netflix).

Superdrug Extracts Conditioner
As my hair is bleached and dry, I've ditched the sulphates and silicones in hair products as they're drying and ruining my hair. I've opted to wash my hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. I use a shampoo once every two(ish) weeks? The Superdrug Extract Conditioners are amazing and only 89p at the moment!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette
My favourite Christmas present this year is definitely the highly regarded ABH MR Palette. The warm-toned shades are right up my street and they're so pigmented too! Full review coming soon...

Pure Gym
I've been meaning to join the gym for ages and what better time to join than a new year? I like Pure Gym because it's affordable, there are plenty of machines and it's a great atmosphere. I'm really enjoying going to the gym!

The Weekly Top Five #8

Another week has flown by - it's September already! That means that in just under three months I will be 23 years old. Mental. So let's get into what I've been loving this week...

Possibly the most expensive oil I've ever heard of (£50, gasp) Show Beauty Hair Oil leaves my hair feeling so soft and nourished. I received this in a beauty box but if I could afford to, I probably would splurge on another one. It is that good.

Justin Bieber - Purpose
I used to hate Justin Bieber but recently I've been obsessed with his songs! I might be listening to him right now...

The Good Wife
It's no secret that I'm obsessed with Netflix and my latest addiction is The Good Wife. The American Drama is centered around lawyer Alicia Florrick. After her husband (ex State's Attorney) lands himself in jail she goes back to work after 15 years to support her family. Each episode focuses on a different case where Alicia's team fight as the defence to win the case. It's such an addictive show!

I can't put this contour kit down, it's so affordable and gives me cheekbones in an instance. You can read my full review here.

Off the shoulder tops are a huge trend right now and I've been loving this gorgeous Khaki top from New Look.

What have you been enjoying this week?

The Weekly Top Five #7

It's been a hot minute since I did a weekly top five, so I'm back at it again with my favourite things from the past week (well a few weeks, but ssh).

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip - Midi
I'm obsessed with liquid lipsticks and I really like the formula of Colourpop's. Midi is the perfect nude for my pale skintone.

Bourjois Clubbing Mascara - Limited Edition *
I've always been faithful to Maybelline mascaras but after trying this one from Bourjois, I'm totally converted! Length and volume, perfect!

Makeup Eyeshadow - Morocco
Burnt orange smokey eyes are my ultimate favourite. I love the effect on blue eyes - this shade is a must-have!

Netflix - iZombie
Late night browsing on Netflix led me to discover this gem of a show. iZombie is a drama comedy that focuses on Liv, an ordinary lady that gets turned into a zombie. Eating brains keeps her from turning into a Walking Dead kinda zombie, it also turns her into a great crime-solving detective. Good job she works in the morgue - an all you can eat brain buffet!

Pokemon Go - iPhone game
I'm sure you've heard about the worldwide phenomenon that is Pokemon Go and if you haven't? Download it now! I love how this app makes me more active and summer is a great time to enjoy the outdoors. I'm level 22, so you could say that I play this a lot...

What have you been enjoying lately?

Partylite Candles | Review

I'm so obsessed with candles at the moment! I'm loving burning candles and wax melts and really filling my home with warm sweet smells, mmm!

Today I will be sharing with you some candles from Partylite who have a range of candles to suit all budgets and a range of different scents.

First up is the Forbidden Fantasy Candle in Desire*. The outer packaging of this candle is beautiful, very sleek and elegant. Inside the candle is housed in a round black glass jar, with the candle itself being black inside. It's very minimalist. With a blend of magnolia and jasmine, with hints of deep berries it's a nice floral scent that verges on fruity. It's very pungent and fills my whole apartment with the gorgeous scent.

How cute is the Just Desserts* packaging for the tea lights though? I think this would make a great gift for someone. It has 15 tea lights inside, three of each scent: Marshmallow Peppermint, Lemon Lime Macaroon, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Sugarplum Fairies, Nutcracker Sweet. Each scent is really strong and fills the room. They all smell amazing and you can mix up the scents if you want.

For the the tea lights there are various tea light holders and I got scent this gorgeous heart one. It's a glass heart with silver detailing.

I'm really impressed with Partylite candles overall and I could definitely see myself buying some in the future - I have a lot of candles at the moment, eheh.

What's your favourite candle scent?

Everything Happens For A Reason | Positive Thinking

When something unfortunate happens to me that I didn't "want" I'm the most negative person, I can't accept why things happen and I will be so upset for days - even though it isn't the end of the world -it seems to be the end of the world for me.

I've been struggling lately with feeling positive and not being able to deal with things. Recently Amanda Ensing uploaded a video of "Wants vs Needs" and her video has made me think in a completely different way and now I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. In my situation what happened was a total blessing in disguise and it is going to make me a better person, in a better situation. It may be hard now not knowing what is going to happen but when you think positive it can change your world.

I just wanted to share with you Amanda's video and Shaaanxo's video just in case you haven't seen them. If you are having a bad day then check these videos out. They may change your complete mindset and make you see things in a different light.

Everything happens for a reason.
Positive thoughts lead to a happy and fulfilled life.

My Top Tips For All Bloggers - Beginners and Veterans

Over the past year and a half I have picked up a few tips and wish I knew some things as soon as I started. Today I will be sharing with you a few tips that you will hopefully help you, wether you're a newbie or an oldie.
1) Install Google Analytics! Bloggers stats are notoriously wrong as they capture every view - even bots. The sooner you install Google Analytics the better as you will have the most accurate stats. There are a few tutorials to help you install it - if like me, you are a tad confused.

2) Can't do something? Google it! Seriously, Google has been my best friend when it has come to the technical side of blogging. I always Google my queries and I always find an answer from a fellow blogger.

3) Social media! It's the most important thing. Make accounts for your blog; Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, wherever you can post your work the better! Be consistent on all platforms and always use your blog name. It will make it easier for readers to follow you.

4) Be consistent! Now I'm not saying blog every day, as we all know that isn't possible for some people. But when you do post be consistent, wether it be once a week or four times a week. Set a schedule and try and stick to it.

5) Scheduling! If you have the time - and motivation - try and write posts in bulk, one after another. This will allow you to stagger posts across days, weeks so if for some reason you can't post that day you will already have a blog post going up.

6) Don't compare yourself to anyone else, Rome wasn't built in a day! It can be easy to feel down about your blog, especially if you haven't got lots of followers. It all takes time and content is king. Every blogger is unique so don't get hung up about it, you're special and so is your blog.

7) Passion! If you have a passion for what you are writing about it will come through in your writing and feel more authentic to your readers.
There are a few of my top tips for all bloggers.

Have you got a tip that has helped you while blogging?

The Sunday Edit #22 - Bowling Fun & The Struggles Of Finding A Job

This week has been a very relaxing one, which after all the stress from finishing uni it's definitely needed! Tuesday me and Michael went on a triple date with our friends, it felt very grown up! We went to bowling and played three games. I didn't win any, of course... I was pretty terrible actually! Bowling was lots of fun though as I do love a good bowl. We then went to Marcello's in Sunderland and had some pizza and pudding - the perfect combination of course.

Michael went home to work with his dad for the summer so I've been flying the nest alone (we live together if you don't know). My life this week has consisted of: watching the Hills, playing GTA (I am addicted, daniellaydg on PSN if you want to add me) and looking for a job. I'm looking for a job in retail or similar for now because Michael still has a year to finish at uni so I'm staying in Sunderland with him. We're going to save up to move to London, where hopefully we can both get a job in magazines.

In other news, my baby sister is now over three months old. She is the cutest thing I have ever seen!

This week I've been listening to: Hobbie Stuart, he really has an amazing voice!
This week I've been loving:  The original UD Naked Palette.
This week I've been watching: The Hills. Lauren Conrad is a babe.
This week I've been lusting after: The new UD blushes.
This week you might have missed:
HD Brows Lip Gloss Review
The Balm Mary Lou Review
The Fat Hippo Newcastle

I'm so excited to blog again, so you will have four posts to read each week on Freshly Pressed Beauty.

What have you been up to this week?
